Marine Park Soccer - AYSO Region 266

Frequently Asked Questions

Marine Park Soccer FAQs

HOW DO I REGISTER?

You can register your child online here. (Please note Marine Park Soccer is AYSO Region 266 and we play in Marine Park, Brooklyn. We are NOT Brooklyn AYSO. Please register your child for the correct league as we do not deal directly with Brooklyn AYSO to issue refunds for incorrectly registered players).

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

All refunds requests for Fall soccer must be sent to the Marine Park Soccer Commissioner by September 1st. There are absolutely NO REFUNDS after September 1st

Please also note that any refunds issued will have the AYSO National Fee of $25.00 deducted. This fee is non-refundable. This is a fee that AYSO National pulls from our funds and we have no way of refunding it to you.

WHAT DOES the "U" in U5/U6, U8, U10 ETC MEAN?

The “U” in U5/U8/U10 etc. just stands for “Under.” For example, if your child is turning 12 before the end of the season, they will play in our U14 division as they are under the age of 14-years-old. Once you register and enter your child’s birthdate into our registration form, you will automatically be told which division your child is eligible for.

The fall season’s division is based on the age a player will turn during the following calendar year. (So even if your child does not turn 8 until December of this year, they are considered AYSO age 9 (because they will turn 9 in the next calendar year) and need to play in the U10 division in the fall season.

The exception is the U5 division. U5 players must turn 4 BEFORE the start of the season in order to be eligible to play.

WHAT IS YOUR EPIC DIVISION (formerly VIP)?

Our EPIC team (formerly VIP) provides a soccer experience for individuals whose physical or mental diversities make it difficult for them to successfully participate on mainstream soccer teams.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH DIVISION MY CHILD SHOULD PLAY IN?

Once you register and enter your child’s birthdate into our registration form, you will automatically be told which division your child is eligible for. If you have a child who can not participate on a mainstream team you will have the option to register them onto our EPIC team as well.

CAN MY CHILD PLAY WITH OLDER/YOUNGER KIDS?

Upon registration all new players MUST upload a copy of their birth certificate as proof of age verification. Age falsification presents risks for the players, families and the region. Additionally your child will not be able to play up or down regardless of skill. They MUST play with children in their same age group. This is AYSO National policy and we can not, as a local region, do anything to change those rules. Furthermore, in order for your child to fully be covered under our liability insurance, they must be playing in the correct division.

WHAT DOES MY REGISTRATION INCLUDE?

Your registration fee includes a place on one of our teams, a full AYSO uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) and full liability insurance for your child.

WHAT AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING?

All of our players should bring sneakers or cleats, shin guards (this is a must as your child will not be allowed to play without them) and a ball (U5 and U6 players will be provided with a ball).

Shin guards (required) available at sporting good stores.

Cleats (recommended) available at sporting good stores.

Water bottle (required).

Ball (required) available at sporting good stores.

U5/U6/U8: Size 3 ball

U10: Size 4 ball

U12/U14/U16/U19: Size 5 ball

Usually in the late summer/early fall sporting good stores will offer a deal where you can purchase a pair of cleats, shin guards and a ball as a package deal.

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE/WHEN DO YOU PLAY?

We begin each season the weekend after labor day and play for ten weeks (excluding Columbus Day Weekend). Each division meets for one hour every Saturday and Sunday. This includes practice and games. Please note, final practice and match schedules are subject to change based on the number of players and teams in each division.

U5/U6 Division: Saturdays only, 9:15 am - 10:15 am;
*A Sunday 9:15 am - 10:15 am session has just been added* (players only need to commit to one day but have the option of attending both)

U10 Division: Saturdays and Sundays, 11:45 am - 12:45 pm

U12/U14 Division: Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 am - 11:30 am

U16/U19 Division: Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 am - 11:30 am

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT COACHES AND TEAM ASSIGNMENTS?

Information about coaches and team assignments will be emailed prior to the first practice. We will use the email address that you used to register.

WHEN WILL I GET MY CHILD’S UNIFORM?

If you register by July 31st you will be more likely to receive your child’s uniform from your coach during one of the first practices. If you register later in the summer or after the season begins your uniform will most likely come in after the season starts. We will work to ensure your child has a uniform before the first game-day of the season. Please note, our uniform orders will most likely be affected by supply chain issues so register early to ensure there are no issues receiving your child's uniform.

WHAT SIZE UNIFORM SHOULD I ORDER?

Please refer to the Score Uniform Size Chart:

Please also keep in mind that it will be colder later on in the season and your child may need to wear a sweatshirt under their team jersey.

I ORDERED THE WRONG UNIFORM SIZE, CAN I EXCHANGE IT?

You can exchange your uniform size for an additional cost. Please speak to someone at our uniform distribution table at the start of the season for information about fees and to place the order.
